Low Voltage Telemetrie (LVT)

In the context of brushless controllers, “low voltage” refers to the use of LiPo batteries up to 6s (Saphir up to 8s). In model making, “LV” (Low Voltage) refers to operation in the low-voltage range of up to 6s or 8s LiPo.

Technical Data

YGE LVT and Saphir controllers are characterized by high performance in a compact design. Thanks to their compatibility with all common remote control systems and telemetry systems, as well as their pre-programmed operating modes, they are versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications. All YGE controllers feature a 32-bit processor with high computing power.

6 pre-programmed operating modes for easy and quick configuration

To pre-program the controller for the specific application, we have created the mode programming function. Using the transmitter stick, all necessary parameters are preset according to the operating mode, and the throttle channel endpoints are also automatically read. The following modes are available:

Mode 1: External Governor;
Mode 2: Governor;
Mode 3: Governor Store;
Mode 4: Motor flight with brake (glider);
Mode 5: Motor flight without brake;
Mode 6: Motor flight with acro brake.

Mode programming is completed in no time, and the controller is then fully operational. For advanced programming and selecting the telemetry protocol, the USB adapter is required to connect to a PC.

Adjustable high-performance BEC

All LVT and Sapphire ESCs feature an adjustable high-performance BEC that meets the most demanding requirements. The voltage is adjustable from 5.5V to 8.4V, and it incorporates all necessary protection mechanisms. We at YGE have complete confidence in our BEC, so we certainly don't require our customers to use a backup battery! Nevertheless, in many applications, using additional safety features makes sense. We didn't simply install a diode in the BEC output to prevent reverse currents into the BEC, as this has the disadvantage that the receiver voltage can overshoot when the servos quickly reverse polarity. Furthermore, the voltage drop across a diode is load-dependent, which would result in fluctuating BEC voltage. For this reason, we developed a circuit (ideal diode)* that is normally blocked, protecting the BEC against reverse currents. However, should the receiver voltage overshoot due to reverse currents from the servos, this circuit opens for a fraction of a second and diverts the excess energy back into the flight battery. This is not only safe and efficient, but it also provides an absolutely constant BEC voltage.

*Due to its small size, this circuit was omitted in the 35LVT. Please refer to the operating instructions for further information.

Intelligent and ultra-precise power measurement

All our controllers feature highly precise current measurement and current limiting. When this value is reached, the controller doesn't shut down, of course. It limits the power so that no more than the set maximum current can flow. This protects the controller from overload, and in the case of only a small peak, the flight can simply continue as normal, whereas other controllers would shut down or reduce power. This works so well, in fact, that current-guided flight is possible!

Volle Telemetrieunterstützung für alle gängigen Fernsteuersysteme

The following telemetry data is output by the controller: battery voltage, current, capacity, RPM, FET temperature, BEC temperature, BEC voltage, throttle position, and controller opening. Our Sapphire and Aureus series also output the capacitor temperature and BEC current. Our entire product range is compatible with all common telemetry protocols.

The YGE TexY is required for using telemetry with Futaba, FrSky, Spektrum and Core.

Advanced settings via PC software (separate USB adapter required)

The YGE Connect software allows you to configure advanced settings on the ESC. Among other things, you can select your preferred telemetry protocol, adjust the startup time, or change the BEC voltage. Logged data from the last flight, as well as any error messages, are also displayed. You can save your ESC setup or load different setups. Of course, you can also update the ESC online to ensure it's always up to date. You can download the YGE Connect software here.

Controller parameters can be set directly in the transmitter (Vbar Control, Jeti, Graupner, Core)

Another unique feature is the ability to configure parameters directly in the transmitter (Vbar Control, Graupner, Jeti, Core). This allows you to conveniently adjust the most important parameters directly on the transmitter. It couldn't be simpler!

With Mikado VBC and VBC Touch, you don't even need to program a mode or select a telemetry protocol! All YGE ESCs have auto-detect and automatically recognize the connection with VBC and NEO. Afterward, you can set all common parameters directly in the transmitter. YGE telemetry works perfectly with the Vbar Control's battery management system! Check out our explanatory video for more information !

Jeti ExBus: The Jeti transmitter allows you to adjust the most important ESC parameters directly on the transmitter. This makes it easy to adjust individual ESC settings right at the flying field. You can find the ESC settings in the JetiBox menu under "Mx".*

Graupner HoTT: The most important controller parameters can also be adjusted via the telemetry menu of the Graupner transmitter. Here you will find, among other things, the settings for timing, BEC voltage, and startup time.*

Powerbox CORE: Here too, all common controller parameters can be set directly in the transmitter. The YGE TexY is required.* One-time selection of the telemetry protocol in the PC software is necessary. A separate USB adapter is required.

Intelligent temperature management

With 25 years of experience in model aircraft speed controllers, we have developed a robust and perfectly tuned cooling concept. This allows YGE controllers to run significantly cooler and operate more efficiently.

If things do get a little hotter, all controllers feature multi-stage, intelligent temperature management:

80°C: A warning is issued via telemetry. An entry is made in the log.
90°C: The current RPM is reduced by 25%. This is noticeable in flight, but a safe landing is still possible.
100°C: The current RPM is reduced by another 25%.
107°C: The controller shuts off the motor for safety reasons.

Super smooth and individually adjustable start-up

It should be smooth yet powerful! There are different requirements for startup. In fixed-wing models, it should be nicely explosive and crisp, while in scale helicopters, it should ideally start spinning in slow motion. Our controllers offer the right setting for all applications! For most common applications, the default setting from the selected mode is sufficient. If adjustments are needed, you can choose from three preset startup profiles (slow/medium/fast). There's also a "Custom" option, which allows you to individually tailor the startup to your needs using a graphically displayed ramp-up curve. For startup behavior from idle, you can choose between a smooth sine wave and a rapid block start. For scale helicopters, the startup time can also be set to >60 seconds. The response time to changes in throttle input (switching between idle states) can, of course, be adjusted separately.

Three different Governor Modes

The YGE Governor offers exactly what a perfect governor should. Firstly, it compensates for the decreasing battery voltage during flight, ensuring a consistent rotor head speed throughout the entire flight. Secondly, it smooths out speed drops caused by load peaks. Thanks to our many years of experience in model aviation, we have developed an optimal basic setting that delivers perfect flight results for all common setups without requiring any further testing or adjustments. Furthermore, all our controllers feature our proprietary Governor Store mode, which allows you to input and permanently save a reference speed. This means that regardless of the quality of the batteries used, the controller will always achieve the exact same desired speed. For use with an external speed controller, such as the Vstabi-Governor, all YGE controllers also offer a dedicated speed output.

Adjustable EMK brake and Acro brake

In Mode 4 (powered flight with brakes), the throttle response is automatically adjusted for brake use, and the brakes are activated. Brake stiffness can be fine-tuned using the YGE Connect software. In Mode 6, the adjustable acro brake (F3A) is activated. An explanatory video about the F3A brake can be found here.

Bailout

Autorotation isn't just a 3D maneuver that impresses during aerobatic displays. Mastering autorotation is also crucial in emergency situations, making regular practice all the more important. The bailout function plays a vital role here: if an autorotation doesn't go as planned, the motor can be restarted, and the controller will quickly return the throttle to the target speed without a soft start.

Online-Update fähig

To ensure your controller is always up-to-date and can take advantage of future new features, you can update it online via the USB adapter on your PC. For copy protection, each controller has its own unique serial number, and each update is generated individually for that serial number. Watch our explanatory video for more information !
